From Courtrooms to Coaching: My Journey from Legal Professional to Life & Health Coach
By Leann Herron, Transformation Coach for Women
For years, I wore the armor of professionalism in the legal field; structured, precise, and emotionally guarded. To the outside world, I was successful and grounded. But beneath the surface, I carried unhealed trauma that no amount of logic, productivity, or career achievement could soothe.
Like many women, I was doing what I was “supposed” to do: pursue a respectable career, provide for myself and my family, and keep pushing forward no matter how exhausted or disconnected I felt. But trauma has a way of whispering until it screams. Mine finally demanded to be heard.
When Success Isn’t Enough
Despite my accomplishments in law, I began to feel increasingly misaligned. The stress was relentless. My body was speaking through chronic tension, my mind through burnout, and my soul through a sense of emptiness I couldn’t explain. I wasn’t just tired, I was depleted. And I realized I had been running on empty for a very long time.
Like many high-functioning women, I had learned to disconnect from my own needs in order to survive and succeed. But survival isn’t the same as living.
The Turning Point
My turning point wasn’t a single moment, but a series of quiet realizations and painful awakenings. I began asking myself deeper questions: Who am I, really? What do I want? Why do I feel so far away from myself?
Those questions led me down a path of healing I never expected to walk, but one I now see as sacred.
I began to unravel the patterns that had been driving me: people-pleasing, perfectionism, and overachieving. I traced them back to early life experiences, to generational patterns of suppression and self-sacrifice. And for the first time, I began to offer myself compassion instead of criticism.
The Education That Changed Everything
Healing became my full-time job. I immersed myself in trauma recovery, somatic healing, and integrative wellness. I trained to become a Certified Life and Holistic Health Coach, not just to learn how to help others, but because I needed those tools for myself first.
I studied:
• Trauma-informed coaching and how the nervous system influences behavior, health, and relationships
• Mind-body integration to reconnect with the wisdom my body had been holding all along
• Stress resilience strategies that actually work, including breathwork, somatics, and nervous system regulation
• Nutrition and holistic health, not as a punishment or control mechanism, but as nourishment and self-respect
• Transformation coaching, which allowed me to move from surviving to thriving—and help others do the same
Each certification, each modality, wasn’t just an academic pursuit; it was a layer of healing, a reclamation of power, a deeper return to my true self.
From Pain to Purpose
Eventually, I came to understand that my true calling wasn’t in the legal field, it was in walking alongside others on their path to healing. Especially women like me, women who’ve spent decades holding everything together for everyone else, only to realize they’re the ones unraveling inside.
I left the legal profession and launched my coaching practice, dedicated to helping women who feel burnt out, lost, or stuck rediscover their resilience, reconnect to their truth, and reclaim a life of purpose and vitality.
Why I Do This Work
I do this work because I’ve lived it. Because I know what it’s like to lose yourself in service to everyone else. Because I know the silent ache of feeling like your life looks good on paper but feels hollow in your heart.
And I know that healing is possible. Not perfect, not linear, but real, powerful, and life-changing.
Today, I guide women through what I call the Empty Cup Recovery process, helping them set new foundations, replace destructive patterns with nourishing ones, manage stress in embodied ways, and design a life that flows from a full cup.
Final Thoughts
Transitioning from the legal field to life and health coaching wasn’t just a career change, it was a soul realignment. It was about choosing to honor my story instead of hiding it. And now, it’s about helping others do the same.
If you’re feeling the call to change, to heal, to come home to yourself, know that you’re not alone. I see you. And I’m here to walk with you.
